From a dusty archive drawer at Silencer headquarters…here’s a fun one.
Exactly 17 years ago this weekend Silencer played Maris the Great’s Judas Priest tribute show here in Denver at a now defunct, but very well known small club called Cricket on the Hill. Upon being asked we instantly agreed, being massive Priest fans and game for something fun to do that was a little different.
Our then-bassist Jeff Alexis recorded an early rehearsal for the show on his four track just for fun, and here you can hear us play excerpts from three classic Priest cuts, “Hell Patrol”, “Victim of Changes” and “Steeler”. The show itself went down a storm, sharing the stage with other Denver acts with plenty of libations going around and everyone singing along to everyone else’s setlist picks. What a great night. We then carried forward “Victim…” a couple shows as encore material, always to killer response.
Thanks again to Maris for hosting this show and bringing this (and other similar shows) that were so fun to the Denver metal scene of the early 2000’s. What an utterly explosive time in Denver’s metal scene and history. Enjoy!
